First post: what to expect

If there's one word I really can't stand it's “blogosphere”.  I'm not sure why.  That word just annoys me though.  I feel like if Johnny Cash were still alive he would never use that word. So, the question then begs to be asked, why am I writing a blog? Admittedly, it's for purely selfish purposes.  Sure, I have some info I'm excited to share with the general reading public, but I have no delusions of being so important so as to warrant daily updates to the world regarding what I had for breakfast or who I think is going win the Super Bowl.  But I figured my opinionated online persona needs a place to rant so why not start a blog?

So, my reasons for writing this blog are as follows:
  1. I am currently underemployed.  Underemployment, not to be confused with unemployment, is a double edged sword: on the one hand, underemployment is not conducive to activities such as paying rent or bolstering one's resume, but on the other hand, I have a lot of free time to do things that don't suck.  That's where number two comes in...
  2. I make it a point to do things that don't suck.  “Things that don't suck” is a purely subjective term—spending six hours sitting climbing a mountain via bicycle might suck to some people but if you're reading this, it probably doesn't.  There are a lot of people that also engage in these activities, some, if not most, with much more skill and grace than I.  However, as a psuedo-working stiff like most of the world (i.e. someone that's not getting paid to have fun), I offer a different perspective, one to which I believe people might be able to relate.  It's my belief that some (definitely not all) of the radness is worth sharing.  Snowboards will get demoed, bikes will get ridden, the backcountry will get slayed (kinda) so why not, as they say, “do it for the internet.”
  3. I like to write.  Whether anyone reads this or not I'll still probably write it.  So as long as I'm writing, you might as well read.  Got it?
  4. Finally, in a self aggrandizing sort of way, I think this is a good way to share some of the artwork I’ve done and give people an opportunity to purchase a one-of-a-kind piece from yours truly.  Check out the Portfolio tab that, I hope, will be  frequently updated.

Things to expect from this, the soon-to-be most awesome blog in the entire world: stuff about snowboarding (product reviews, trip reports, etc), mountain biking (footage of people that are good at riding bikes (present company usually excluded), and, as mentioned above, a bit of art for the sake of diversity.

So without further ado, consider this my entrance into the blogosphere...
